The latest project has resulted in a significant streamlining of the company&#8217;s warehouse work and goods picking. From working in different subsystems, Star Trading now has a fully integrated handheld computer solution that makes picking easier and more rational, while improving the ability to overview and plan the work. Star Trading, which designs, develops and sells electric Christmas lights and decorative lighting for consumer use, has quickly and clearly benefited from the new solution.   <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Previously, the PDAs were standalone units where information about picking assignments and completed picking was stored locally. The information in the PDAs then had to be synchronized and transferred to the logistics system. This caused a certain delay before it was possible to see the exact stock balance. With an upgraded platform and new PDAs solution, stock balance and other information are now managed in real time instead. With a new, modern interface, each employee can also easily see exactly where and how much of an item is to be picked.    <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Markus Bylander, Logistics Manager at Star Trading<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Quick insertion and minimal risk of incorrect picking<br\/><\/strong> Instead of having full control over the stock balance only after the picking has been completed, employees now see the current balance directly on their handheld computer. The risk that the system will indicate that an item is in stock but is not has been essentially eliminated. When an item runs out, a replenishment order is automatically sent from the buffer warehouse to the picking warehouse. Another advantage of the new solution is that the system clearly indicates which packaging size (out of three) should be picked to complete the order.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We already had a low level of error picking, but this solution minimizes the risk of errors even further. As for the actual implementation, it took a maximum of five minutes to instruct the employees, then we were up and running and haven&#8217;t had a downtime since. The run-in period is important. This type of solution must be simple and stable from the start,&#8221; says Markus Bylander.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Halves the time<br\/><\/strong> &#8220;Our work to shorten lead times is ongoing. When we can now halve the time from when the salesperson marks the order ready until we can pick it, it is of course a success and also a good mark on Connect Companies&#8217; capacity in this area. I particularly appreciate their responsiveness and ability to understand our business. They have the experience required to make the difficult simple,&#8221; says Markus Bylander.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This project has been very successful, while there is still potential for further development. We have already decided to take the next step and introduce a solution that allows us to take inventory via PDAs. This will significantly streamline that work step.&#8221;  <\/p>\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Star Trading reduces paper handling, has fewer sources of error and saves a lot of time<\/h1>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.startrading.se\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Star Trading<\/a> designs, develops and sells electric Christmas lights, LED light sources and decorative lighting for consumer use.
